It’s a big topic, but I’d like to dicuss and summarize it as briefly as possible.

What is 5G?
You hear a lot about “5G” in the news these days, but do you know what it is?
First of all, I would like to give a brief explanation of what 5G means.
5G is an abbreviation stands for 5th Generation, and is a next level standard for the mobile communication used for communication with smartphones and other devices called the fifth-generation mobile communication system.

When will 5G be introduced?
In fact, the 5G service has already been launched in the United States, South Korea and China.
So, when will the 5G start in Japan?
According to each mobile carrier, they’ll start rolling out around March 2020.
It will start from the big cities first. Therefor, it’s predicted that implementation of 5G take a little while before being available in all over Japan.
Also, in order to use this service, you will need to prepare devices such as smartphones and other devices that are compatible with 5G.
NTT Docomo, au (KDDI) and Softbank have launched 5G services from March 2020. However, as expected, it’s only available in a very limited area. We’ll have to wait and see.
How the “education” will change?
How will 5G change our lives?
With IoT, VR and AR, we see the realization of fully automated driving, telemedicine and the optimization of agricultural operations. What about the education?
First of all, With the development of tablets, various devices, and digital teaching materials, classes using smart glasses and VR goggles are likely to become possible.
This will enable experiencing classes using the five senses through VR and AR.
For example, it may become common for social study classes to experience world heritage sites and natural landscapes overseas with a sense of presence, as if they were actually on site.
Computer rooms in schools today may become VR rooms.
And distance learning will be smoother than ever before and the gap between rural and central areas will disappear.
We may even see one English teacher teaching in multiple schools at once using remote learning systems.
We may also see the creation of virtual teachers through the integration of AI technology.
