Let's use the privilege settings of learningBOX! School use version
Let's use the permission settings of learningBOX! School Use Edition
Hello! This is ⛄ Shinokura from the Quality Control Department. There has been a pandemic of the new coronavirus worldwide. 。。。。。
Let's be careful and spend our time by thoroughly following the basic "wash your hands, gargle, and ventilate". Now, in this article, I'd like to talk about the use of "learningBOX authorization settings," which I introduced to you a little last time!
In this article, based on the previous contents, I would like to further elaborate on the authorization settings and try to set up the authorization settings assuming an example of use in a school. If you are interested in introducing our e-learning system (learningBOX) in your school, please refer to this article to learn the authorization settings and try using it.

Brief Review of Authorization Settings
Using the Authorization Settings in learningBOX, "management, setting, and editing tasks" such as "creating learning materials, managing grades, and assigning learning materials" that are usually performed by the administrator can be entrusted to a user (a person who has been assigned the authority) designated by the administrator. Authorized users can manage the learning environment in learningBOX in the same way as the administrator, such as creating content (learning materials), viewing and managing learners' grade information, and assigning content to each group.
*If you would like to learn more about authority settings, please refer to the previous article on how to give appropriate roles to members using learningBOX's authority settings.
Here is an example of authority settings using a school as an example
In this authorization setting, the administrator (principal) will set authorizations such as "create teaching materials, manage grades, and assign teaching materials" to the leader (teacher) of each group. To make it easier to understand the authorization settings, we will divide the groups into "learning administrator = teacher" and "learner = student".
To set up permissions, you will first need to create a group in Member Management. In this case, we will use this group that we have prepared in advance.
Using the member management function of learningBOX, you can add and register members and groups by delving into one group in more detail.
▼ Group Configuration
This time, the group is structured in this hierarchy.
Teacher>>Student Management - Subject>>Japanese - Mathematics - English - Social Studies - Science ・・・・・
Student>>Year 1->Year 2->Year 3->Group 1->Group 2・・・・
*The flow of setting up permissions is to create member accounts for teachers in the "Teacher" group, student member accounts in the "Student" group, and member accounts for administrators in the "Administration in General" group.
And in this example setup, we will show you how to
1. grant administrative privileges to the "Head teacher" from the principal who is the administrator.
2. set up a "student administrator" teacher to manage "students".
3. set up a "teacher administrator" teacher to manage "teachers".
We would like to set up the above three.
Let's put on the management authority.
Let's log in to learningBOX with the account of the administrator (principal) and set up the administrative privileges.
As the general supervisor of learningBOX, you will have all administrative privileges. It might be a good idea to put the principal's most trusted "vice principal" in charge of this post!
Here is how to set it up.
Please watch this video.
Here is the procedure for setting up permissions.
(1) Log in with the administrator's account.
(2) Select the group/member for which you wish to set administrative privileges. In this case, "Administration General".
(3) Click on the All icon for Administrative Authority, select "All members and all materials, and check all" and save it.
Now, the "vice principal = administrator with full authority" can create groups and members (and can also be granted administrative privileges), create and assign teaching materials, view grades, manage announcements, edit the text of e-mails, and operate settings.
Setting Permissions for Student Management Groups
▼ Please watch this video.
The members of the "Teacher" >> "Student Management" group (student administrators) are authorized to manage "students". Click on the icon button of the person with administrative privileges, select "Students" instead of all members, and save. This will allow the student administrator to create, edit, and delete members in the hierarchy below "Students". The student member accounts do not need any specific permissions, so the grant permissions will not be granted.
Authorization rights will also be set for teacher-managed groups.
▼ Please see this video.
Give permission to the member (teacher administrator) who belongs to "Sensei" >> "Teacher Management" to manage "Sensei".
Administrative Permissions >> People Icon >> Select "Teacher" without selecting all members and save. Next, click the hammer icon in the administrative authority, check the grant authority and save.
This setting allows the teacher administrator to create, edit, and delete members in the hierarchy below "Teacher", as well as to grant administrative privileges to them.
Let's log in with the member who has been granted privileges.
Let's log in to learningBOX with the member who has been given the authority and check the member management screen.
Administrator with full privileges
Log in to learningBOX with the account of the head teacher. The screen is the same as that of the owner (principal). You can also set input fields.
Student Administrator
When you open the member management screen, don't be surprised if you see "You do not have administrative privileges for this group.
Click on "Students" to view the members belonging to the "Students" group. You can add, edit, and delete groups and members by clicking the + button. (Below "Student") There are no items with icons for administrative privileges, because you have not been given the authority to grant privileges.
Teacher Administrator
As before, you can view the members belonging to "Teacher" by clicking "Teacher".
You can add, edit, and delete groups and members from + button. (Under "Teacher") Because you have been given authorization authority, you can add authorization from the administration authority.
Conclusion
Many schools across the country have suddenly decided to close as a measure to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Although it was unavoidable, teachers must have been troubled by the sudden situation.
With an e-learning system, the teacher can take videos of the class from home and submit questions, and the students can view the videos and solve the problems at home. Our e-learning system, learningBOX, is available on a free trial basis.
In this paper, we introduced how to give only the authority that is required, not uniformly the same authority, to groups and members assuming a school.
In the next issue, I would like to talk about how to set the authority to teachers for each subject. Thank you for your patience until the end.
